Finkelsteins test evaluates for de quervains tenosynovitis. The patient is asked to make a fist around their thumb with the wrist in a neutral position. The examiner or the patient then actively or passively applies ulnar deviation. A positive Finkelstein’s Test is indicated by pain with ulnar deviation, especially if the discomfort radiates up the forearm.
