Polygamy is not an ‘Islamic’ institution—it existed before Islam and has taken place in many societies, cultures, and religious communities around the world. Although Islam permits polygamy, it is not the norm in Islam and it comes with its own limitations and restrictions. In today’s context, the issue of polygamy persist in many Muslim communities despite having clear damages to the family. Just like Yusuf, many suffer from the unjust practice of polygamy. Here, law reform is crucial to promot
